What A Course in Miracles Says
A Course in Miracles is a first-person scripture by Jesus Christ, dictated to and transcribed by Helen Schucman. The Course provides a unified thought system to establish a conscious contact with God through the Holy Spirit, to bring about the salvation of the world.
The world, being a dream-like illusion, is understood as a mental projection to separate ourselves from our spiritual Source. God created not the world. The ego, which represents the thought system of separation, made it to oppose Heaven.
Every moment we decide between Heaven and the world. The world is ruled by idols, images, and outcomes made by the antichrist to oppose the Christ. Each leads to a limited outcome to bring about the betterment of the body for a certain outcome in time and space. The Holy Spirit, on the other hand, seeks to salvage the world from separation by undoing the past, releasing the future, and looking straight into the present, where God is.
When the world was made by the ego, God created the Holy Spirit to reestablish our connection to Him and not wander off in dreams forever. As soon as time and space were made, God created the answer—the only way out.
The plan of the ego is to delay our inevitable homecoming to Heaven by compounding guilt until it becomes all-encompassing, to offer an immortality in hell. God’s plan is happiness. To walk with God is as easy and natural as breathing. His will is our will. His creation is the Kingdom, and the Kingdom is you.
The need for healing is great as long as we retain solitary dreams within our minds. As long as we choose with the antichrist, we will walk in guilt because we oppose God’s will. The ego is therefore very religious and believes in the vengeance of God and fears its destruction. You cannot be destroyed, but the ego can. Your goal is to undo the ego, not by fighting it, but by withdrawing your allegiance to it.
The Course can therefore be summed up as:
“Nothing real can be threatened. Nothing unreal exists. Herein lies the peace of God.”
